Courses for writers
If you have ever had
the dream of writing or being a writer this course is guaranteed to make
your dream come true!
Inspired by the
revolutionary ideas of two renowned teachers of creativity Juliet
Cameron and Natalie Goldberg the courses are designed to identify what
it is that prevents you writing, how to release the powers of your
imagination and how to bring focused writing into your everyday life for
whatever purpose you choose; stories, autobiography, screenplays,
magazine articles, poems, letters, journals, or shopping lists!
Part time evening
(ten/twelve 2 hour sessions) and weekend courses are held at Harbour
House, Kingsbridge, Devon during the winter and spring.
If
you have a group who wish to work with a ‘Just Write,’ course please
contact Michael for costs and possibilities at
melsmere@hotmail.com
Michael taught
English language and literature at a variety of educational
establishments around the world from primary to university level. He has
been facilitating writing courses since 1982 and began writing for
publication in 2000. His debut children’s story ‘Rufus and the Biggest
Diamond in the World’ is being published by Libros International in the
autumn/winter 2007.
His second
children’s novel ‘When the Woods Went Walking’, is awaiting a publisher.
He is presently
working on a novel for teenagers based in the near future when global
warming and peak oil have had devastating effects on life in Britain.
He has also
written many short stories, two screen plays and a number of poems.

Left Bank
During the 1920/30s the Left
Bank in Paris became a mecca for writers such as Hemingway,
Scott Fitzgerald, Anais Nin, Jean Rhys, Ford Maddox Ford and
Henry Miller. Here amidst the warren of streets with their
numerous bars, cafes and cheap apartments they could discuss,
drink, gossip, inspire each other and of course write.
Left Bank at
Harbour House at Harbour House Kingsbridge is an attempt to
create, in part, this informal atmosphere and creative ferment!
The three hour sessions on Saturday mornings will provide
information, inspiration and the supportive company of other
writers.
Aimed at a range of writers
from those with several pieces of work already completed to
those who only have dreams of beginning, the first few sessions
will introduce strategies and issues likely to be of interest to
any writer. Later sessions will be developed out of the stated
needs and aspirations of the group but might include news,
sessions with established authors and critiques on work in
progress.
There will be
plenty of time given over to discussion, debate and question and
answer sessions and there will always be a space in which to
just write!
If you wish to
join a Left Bank session or to request Michael to lead a similar
event for a writer’s group please contact him at
