With a heart set on adventure, Rufus begins his quest to find
the biggest diamond in the world. He does not fully realise how
unpredictable, dangerous and exciting an adventure can be, and has to
conquer many fears along the way. Rufus is thrust into a world where animals
can talk, where characters from stories and legends come to life, and where
the old and new exist side by side. On the course of his journey, Rufus is
viciously attacked by pirates, is shipwrecked, takes a thrilling trip in a
mysterious submarine and, somehow, ends up in Africa. Along the way, Rufus
is befriended by the cocky, but streetwise, Jim Hawkins, and together they
brave the tumultuous ocean, jungle and desert and finally the fabulous
diamond mines of King Solomon. Here they fall into terrible danger when
ghosts and curses of the past rise up against them……… |

Reviews of Rufus and the Biggest Diamond in the World:
“The first few sentences of this book got me hooked, and as the
story goes on you find yourself worrying if they will ever find the
diamond, or even survive!
It has quite an unexpected ending, but I won’t spoil it!
This is definitely a book that will put a smile on your face!”

“The final scenes
were surprisingly provocative and genuinely had me thinking, even
days after I closed the book. To find such depth in what is, on the
surface, a kid's story was as unexpected as it was rewarding!
Definitely recommended for younger readers, but adults will find
material to chew on here too.”

“In Rufus and the Biggest Diamond In The World, Michael Elsmere
creates nothing less than a complete fantasy world of children's
literature. Rufus has been told a story by his father about a
diamond of a size beyond anyone's dreams. It is just waiting to be
found, so, having lost his parents, Rufus sets out to do precisely
that.”
